"The unique aspect of this event is the mammoth chasing start on the second day" , explained Shane Ohly from Ourea Events, "It'll see competitors start in the same order that they finished the first day, thus ensuring thrilling head-to-head racing all the way to the finish line".

The event will begin with competitors arriving, parking and registering at the Event Centre on Saturday morning. From here, competitors are transported to their respective day one starts, which are different for each course. All three courses then converge on the same overnight campsite at the end of the first day.

Whilst competitors are running, their camping equipment and bags are transported to the overnight campsite. On arrival at the campsite all competitors are invited to relax, have fun and share stories of their trail running adventures in the large marquee where they’ll find music, a bar and food. The atmosphere will be jovial rather than raucous! Competitors can choose to bring their own food or enjoy the catering provided; both dinner and breakfast will be available to purchase.

On the Sunday morning, the chase begins! Day two of the event is where the fun really starts as the chase takes shape. Competitors will set off in the same order that they finished the first day, attempting to close the gap from the previous day. With a real head-to-head race developing, competitors will know that if they pass someone they will have improved their overall position, and the first people to cross the finish line will be the winners!

Caroline Smith, Head of Marketing at Berghaus explained, “We think that the Berghaus Trail Chase concept has huge potential. Events like the Dragon’s Back Race are as tough as they get, so there are actually very few people who can realistically take part. Nevertheless, they inspire a much wider audience to seek out adventures that are more achievable and this event format provides a great balance of challenge and accessibility. We’re really looking forward to working with Shane and his team to deliver an exciting and enjoyable event, and there are plenty of staff at Berghaus who are already promising to tackle one of the three races.”

A finisher’s meal is provided to everyone at the Event Centre and the organisers are promising there are stacks of specially commissioned trophies to be awarded across all the different race categories.

Competitors can enter as individuals, a club team or simply run for the pure enjoyment of it with an informal group of friends.
