Ourea Events share 2023 Sustainability report

At Ourea, we are proud of our ongoing commitment to environmental and social responsibility. We are pleased to publish our 2023 Sustainability Report, which outlines the steps we have taken towards more sustainable practices and the achievements we have made throughout the year.

Our key highlights of the 2023 report:

• Partnership with SheRACES: In line with our mission to foster inclusivity and break down barriers to female participation in sports, our partnership with SheRACES has focused our efforts on ensuring we have ‘levelled up’ the start line. We are pleased to report that female participation has risen to 43% in 2023.

• Carbon Offsetting by Customers: 28% of our customers chose to offset their travel emissions when attending our events. These donations were directed to onboard:earth (previously Ecolibrium), an organization that funds climate projects worldwide.

Trees Not Tees: Over half of our customers (55%) opted to support reforestation by purchasing a tree instead of an event t-shirt through our partnership with Trees Not Tees. This initiative plays a vital role in our efforts to reduce waste and promote sustainability.

This year also marks the release of our fourth annual carbon accounts, which accompany the sustainability report. Once again, these accounts reveal that participant travel remains the largest contributor to our carbon emissions, with team travel and employee commuting also in the top five emission sources. In 2024, we have committed to developing a comprehensive reduction plan, leveraging four years of data collection to better inform our strategy for minimizing our environmental footprint.

A fundamental part of sustainability is to share our successes and the challenges we face with an aim of maintaining transparency with all stakeholders. We welcome any comments or feedback about any of our initiatives and would love to hear your sustainability stories as well!
