Ourea Events Joins SheRaces

We are thrilled to announce that our commitment to removing barriers to female participation has been recognised by SheRACES.

We are delighted to be able to display the SheRaces logo on our websites!

SheRACES is an organisation which supports Race Organisers to make their races inclusive to female participants. Their mission is to make sure there are equal opportunities for women to race, something we feel incredibly passionate about.

This announcement comes off the back of a recent review of our Equality, Diversion and Inclusion Policy following Race Director Shane Ohly’s blog about Overcoming Barriers to Female Participation in Trail Running. In this blog, Shane takes a deep dive into the issues faced by female trail runners, and asks some hard questions about how Ourea Events are tackling them using the SheRACES guidelines as a framework.

Encouraging female participation, and creating an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all runners is a priority for us at Ourea Events. We are proud to support the SheRACES mission of levelling the start line.

We are delighted to welcome Ourea to the SheRaces family and recommend their events to female athletes. They have considered every aspect of their races in making them as inclusive as possible for all racers.  More extreme endurance events like Dragons Back typically have very low female participation.  Ourea are showing that by actively removing the barriers we face race directors can welcome more women to the start line and increase diversity in our sport.

The whole team at Ourea Events are delighted that our commitment to removing barriers to female participation in trail running events has been recognised by SheRaces. We are absolutely committed to ensuring that our female runners have the same opportunities as their male counterparts and that the policies and structure of events welcoming and support equality at our races.
— Shane Ohly, CEO of Ourea Events

We hope that this is one step to a brighter future for women’s participation in our sport.

We look forward to welcoming female participants to our events ©No Limits Photography
